Bonemasters
From kitchen to cloud
The details
Bonemasters was founded in 2018. Unfortunately, the company was temporarily down due to COVID, but after the restart, the company grew so fast that the number of production lines had to be doubled. This could not be realized with the existing systems: Exact for finance and the outdated FoodTouch for production. In addition, there was a strong need for better streamlined processes, reliable reporting and management information.
Solution
Bonemasters takes full advantage of the standard capabilities within NetSuite.
Labels are controlled directly from NetSuite during the packaging process.
Each batch and raw material is fully trackable in NetSuite, from receipt to finished product.
Added extensions to perfectly match Bonemasters’ specific production processes.
Financial, logistics and production data are fully integrated into one platform.
Through knowledge and best practices from the food industry, the system was implemented within 5 months.
Full story
Bonemasters’ growth in recent years brought new challenges. As quality manager, Sara was given responsibility for ensuring certifications (including halal and FFCC 22000), hygiene reporting and supplier approval. Audit requirements from NVWA, FSSC and other agencies also called for a system that could provide quick and transparent insight. With NetSuite, Bonemasters can now instantly show auditors all relevant data on a batch-by-batch basis.
In addition, the financial records became much clearer. Profit and loss analyses are now available weekly. Previously, this required external auditors. This gives Bonemasters a clear basis for negotiations with suppliers and a better understanding of margins and costs.
Sales orders have also been redesigned in NetSuite, which means it takes much less time to enter and process them. This saves a lot of time on a workday, especially now that production capacity has doubled from three to six production lines. Increased production has also increased the number of orders.
“For us, quality and compliance are key. Thanks to NetSuite, we can instantly show auditors all checks and certificates associated with a batch. This saves us time and gives our customers confidence in our products.”
– Sara Poklar (Quality Manager Bonemasters)
The project began in the summer of 2024. Consultants from FoodQloud organized workshops for each production line and process. The setup of inventory, assemblies and labels was taken up with the team. The process went “smoothly and straight forward,” according to Joyce, while Sara stresses how important it was that the entire production team was involved in the transition. In a short time of just 5 months, Bonemasters went live with NetSuite. This was partly due to the commitment, decisiveness and hard work of the colleagues at Bonemasters. Although the production department had to get used to the new way of working, the switch ultimately provided more control and overview. Employees at Bonemasters would never want to go back to the old system now and are very happy with NetSuite.
Now that Bonemasters has been live with NetSuite for almost a year, the benefits are evident:
“With NetSuite, we now have complete control over finances and operations – from weekly profit and loss reports to purchasing insights and batch traceability.”
– Joyce Verhoeven (Plant Manager Bonemasters)
In the coming period, Bonemasters is focusing on further expanding its product portfolio. Four new products will be added in NetSuite. In addition, label processes will be further improved and ways to make inline printing more efficient will be examined.
Confidence in the system is high: Bonemasters sees NetSuite as a solid foundation to continue their growth, with FoodQloud as a partner who understands and guides them.
Bonemasters produces high-quality fonds, jus and glace using traditional methods (open kettle cooking) without preservatives. The bones and vegetables come from local suppliers and the products are delivered frozen to professional kitchens and wholesalers. Customers are in the higher end: restaurants, cruises and hotels mainly in Europe, Middle East and in the United Kingdom.
Their mission: to provide chefs with quality, artisanal products that previously could only be made in-house.
