The full story

A love for beer and business

Driven by a love for beer and business, brothers Tyler and Justin Catalana founded a small brewery in Mill Valley, Northern California. As their brewery gained popularity, they decided to scale up manufacturing and expand regionally. In 2014, they launched Fort Point Brewing in San Francisco, which quickly became a regional favorite, employing 200 people.

Family-Run Success in a Competitive Market

Fort Point’s strategic move to San Francisco, focus on innovative design, and the right brewing recipe coincided with a boom in craft breweries. This, along with regional competitors focusing on international markets, allowed Fort Point to double its growth in the early years and now anticipate 40% growth annually.

Self-Distribution Strategy

A key decision to bypass traditional distributors and handle distribution internally proved advantageous. However, as Fort Point grew, their QuickBooks system became inadequate, limiting financial visibility and complicating inventory management.

“With Crafted ERP and NetSuite, we have enhanced financial reporting, production, and inventory controls.”

– Justin Catalana (CEO Fort Point)

Transition to Crafted ERP

Initially, Fort Point replaced QuickBooks with a customized SAP solution, but integration and usability issues led them to seek another solution within a year. After thorough evaluation, they selected Doozy Solutions to implement Crafted ERP, a NetSuite solution tailored for craft beverages.

Expanding Horizons

With Crafted ERP and NetSuite, Fort Point Brewing has enhanced financial reporting, production, and inventory controls. Now, the brewery is looking to expand beyond its three taprooms in the San Francisco Bay Area into Southern California and the greater U.S.
