Two New Specialized Users in NetSuite: Project Manager & Site Operator

NetSuite has announced the expansion of its user licensing model with two brand-new Specialized User roles: Project Manager and Site Operator. These new roles offer businesses more flexibility to scale their teams, without having to invest in full user licenses for every employee. These new user roles are available from August 5th 2025.

What Are Specialized Users?

Specialized Users are limited-access licenses tailored to users with specific job functions. They’re ideal for employees who need access to a narrow set of features, without the need for full-system access.

Crucially, Specialized Users do not count toward your NetSuite service tier. That makes them an affordable and scalable way to extend ERP access to more a bigger team.

Project Manager Specialized User

Monthly price: $59

Use case: Ideal for internal project leads overseeing planning and execution

Perfect for: Operations managers, production planners, or anyone managing internal or customer-facing projects.

Site Operator Specialized User

Monthly price: €59

Use case: Designed for users managing physical locations such as warehouses, stores, or production sites

Bills
POS sales data
Inventory and pricing
Financial reporting (P&L read-only)
Budgeting tools

Perfect for: Plant managers, site supervisors, or regional operations staff needing visibility into daily operations.

Note: Permissions can always be further restricted, but cannot be extended beyond the scope of the specialized role.

Permissions & Limits

Each Specialized User role has predefined permissions, which can be further restricted but not expanded. These roles are purpose-built: project managers won’t have financial access, and site operators can’t edit transactions outside their scope.
